Power Ballads of the Eighties
Post your favourite (or least favourite or most cheesy ... whatever) ballad from the 80s. I'll start off with the Scorpions - no one like you.
Good sound quality

Most searches I do suggest this is the worst of the 80s ballads:

In my opinion, this may be the best ballad of the eighties. It falls into the more traditional ballad definition, as opposed to the sappy love song idea. The song was written in 1987 and released in 1989 on "And Justice for All". It's theme and lyrics are based on the 1939 novel "Johnny Got His Gun" by Dalton Trumbo. The video borrows clips from the 1971 movie adaption of "Johnny Got His Gun". One of the most powerful music videos of all time; one of the best guitar solos of all time; I seriously have trouble watching without shedding a tear.

Another more 'traditional' ballad. This was one my greatest acomplishments when I learned to play this on the bass guitar. I was a big Iron Maiden fan back in the day.

Edit - Sorry, after thinking about it and reviewing old songs, I remembered that this was my biggest acomplishment on bass guitar. (actually the whole piece of mind album)

Non Alcoholic Beer is like a Vibrator without batteries. Fills you up but without the buzz.

Stevie Vai "For The Love of God"- here he is in 2005 with the Holland Metropole Orchestra, proving that a true power ballad is indeed timeless. Holy cow, I'd forgotten how hot Stevie Vai is. Jeesus.... now this is giving me chill-bumps.

Here is a big power ballad from the 80s. Can anyone tell me what video posted above Poison's lead guitarist (c.c.) played in and was a former member of that band?

This was actually released in 1990 but would have been penned in the 80s and falls into the 80s power ballad niche.

You can't talk about the 80s without mentioning Def Leppard. Some may argue that they defined the 80s.
This one's from back in the day when the drummer had two arms.

Awesome contribution. I first heard Def Leppard in grade 7 gym class. It was the Pyromania album, we were allowed to bring a cassette tape and play it during class, and I loved it instantly.
Oh Axl, if egos were nations, you'd be the USA. (Great album though and that video actually has the whole solo.)
That Whitesnake tune was played during our grade 12 grad ceremony. Great tune!

Not really a "power" ballad, but Pat still rocked the 80, this was released in 1983.
