This is a great example of the bigger things wrong with the people in the US.

When things go wrong we expect help... we are trained to feel entitled to assassinate from the Calvary and discouraged from doing for ourselves....

It's just another form welfare. One that bites you on the ass for using it. As MP points out, if you try to stop the shop lifter or stop the assaulter the cops may arrest you for doing the right thing.

And the less intelligent citizens applaud such bad ideas.

Vigilantism sounds really good but in practice regular folks do not make good judgments and mobs are even worse.

I wonder how many innocent people have been hurt or killed by people thinking they were dispensing justice? Id put money down that the cops have a better ratio of arresting guilty people then a mob on the street.

What percentage of total police interactions do those few instances a day represent? Answer a tiny percentage of the total times a cop deals with someone who needs a cop to deal with them. Add to that a good portion of those reported incidents aren't event violent in nature... viewing porn on a police computer or sending bad text messages?! Yup looks like they are not supermen after all just normal humans doing a tough job.

I never said not to watch the watchmen (great comic by the way... maybe the best ever even counting Frank Millers "Dark Knight returns"). I'm just saying that things aren't as bad as you make them out to be.

Police brutality should be punished, cops that gun people down and its a bad shoot should be punished. I do hate how they seem to be above the law just like politicians and people from powerful family's. I know there is less justice on the cops I just dont think its all of them in fact I know most cops are good people that are out there to protect the public to the best of their abilities..... and I dont actually like cops lol.
