So we observe some evidence for evolution that traditional creationists reject: genetic evidence (like human beings having a chromosome that has telomeres in the center, when they should only be on the ends, and a vestigial centromere, hard evidence that suggests two chromosomes fused together- and in fact the exact location was discovered in the Chimpanzee genome project, showing how the common ancestor had 24 pairs of chromosomes, explaining why humans have 23 pairs- something that MUST be there if evolution is true, and if it isn't there then evolution is false, and lo, it was there. More here), fossil evidence, evidence in labs, and just on and on and on. Mountains of it. Tons of evidence for almost every branch of the theorized evolutionary tree (including scores of transitional fossils, despite the false claim made by traditional creationists). However, all this overwhelming evidence for evolution that traditional creationists deny could ALSO be interpreted (although not in a scientific sense)...

A cut from my website ..... The Bible is a book of beginnings and endings and there is much detail presented about earthly things of significance in between. Does the Bible answer questions related to the existence of the earth, its creation, its purpose, its place in the material universe, its past, and future ? Yes it does, but it takes time and effort on the part of the believer to study, ponder, and understand a wide range of the scriptures and their correct applications in order to grasp what the Lord is telling us. The most advanced students of His Word realize that He has not revealed everything to them and that acceptance of this truth will produce a more accurate understanding of some subjects.

A recent Brit TV docu featured an informal face-to-face meeting between Prof Stephen Hawking and Dr Richard Dawkins, but it wasn't much to write home about, just a shallow brief 5-minute affair in which they touched on very general matters. However towards the end, Hawking asked (via his electronic voice) -"Why are you obsessed with God?" Dawkins seemed flustered and lost for words as he searched for a reply, and eventually mumbled "You started it!", and the discussion tailed off and ended soon after. Can anybody explain why Dawkins is obsessed with God?

Help me out here-- atheists say they believe in evolution, but they also say they don't believe in demons. Don't they think that some life-forms may have evolved from material beings into purely spiritual beings?

Christian side-Why couldn't God have cause the big bang and evolution to happen while leaving the details out of the bible and focusing on the man/God relationship? Atheist side-Same question with the following caveat... If God exists and He wants to be sure that the created choose to believe in him and have faith, He'd have to prevent there from being any evidence of His existence which could not be argued as happening through other means. Let go of the "There's no proof" argument for this one.

The average height of an NBA player is far higher than the average height of Joe Shmo. Why? Was Basketball designed specifically for tall people? (The answer is no. Basketball was designed as an indoor sport that could be played during the winter) Or is it that tall people coincidentally have an advantage in basketball, and because those who have advantages tend to score more points, etc, they tend to be the players that NBA owners draft?

I just joined this website. Looks great for debating :) However, while I'm sure some of you are qualified to speak on the issue, I am *just* as sure that most of us do NOT have degrees in biology or microbiology or anthropology or whatever else. I certainly don't. All those posts "Explain THIS creationists/evolutionists/theists/atheists" just sound so incredibly juvenile. Why is there a whole forum dedicated to Creationism versus Evolution? Leave the study and debate of the particular phenomena up to the people who actually study it first hand.
